Role Overview

Enter the elite echelon of enterprise ERP software engineering. In this SAP S/4HANA Cloud Enterprise Systems & Modern ABAP Internship, you will work on simulated enterprise cloud landscapes enforcing SAP's official Clean Core architecture. Operating in small project pods, you will build production-grade transactional business applications using Eclipse ADT, CDS Views, and the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP). You will implement enterprise business logic, configure OData v4 web services, integrate SAP Fiori frontends, and extend cloud processes onto the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).

  • Enterprise SAP landscape orientation: S/4HANA Cloud architecture, Clean Core rules of engagement, and RISE with SAP paradigms
  • Setting up the modern developer workspace: Eclipse ADT configuration, cloud system connectivity, and abapGit repository mapping
  • Understanding SAP Business Object schemas: Universal Journal (ACDOCA), Business Partner structures, and transactional document flows
  • Core Object-Oriented ABAP refresher: Interfaces, factory methods, constructor operators, and exception handling classes

2 Semantic Data Modeling with Core Data Services (CDS Views)

  • Building Virtual Data Models (VDM): Creating basic, composite, and consumption CDS View Entities in SAP HANA
  • Defining CDS Associations and cardinalities for on-demand joins across Procurement and Sales document headers/items
  • Injecting UI annotations (@UI.lineItem, @UI.headerInfo, @UI.selectionField) for zero-code SAP Fiori generation
  • Data Control Language (DCL): Implementing row-level security policies to restrict data access by sales organization and company code

3 ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP) Implementation

  • Architecting RAP Managed Business Objects: Behavior definitions, lock masters, and early/late save phases
  • Implementing transactional logic: Determinations on modify, validations on save, and custom state actions (Approve, Reject, Cancel)

  • Draft orchestration: Enabling multi-user concurrent editing with automated draft table management

4 Service Exposure, OData APIs & Fiori Elements Integration

  • Creating Business Service Definitions and Service Bindings exposing OData v2 and OData v4 protocols
  • Previewing and refining SAP Fiori Elements List Report and Object Page applications directly from Eclipse ADT
  • Handling API errors, custom status messages, and integrating message container objects
  • Writing unit tests using ABAP Unit testing framework and test double isolation

5 SAP BTP Side-by-Side Extensibility & Event Integration

  • Deploying extensions on the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) ABAP Environment (Steampunk)
  • Consuming S/4HANA Cloud REST and OData APIs using HTTP Destination Services and OAuth 2.0 authentication
  • Event-Driven Architecture: Publishing and subscribing to enterprise business events via SAP Event Mesh
  • Running ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC) and Custom Code Analyzer for Clean Core compliance auditing

6 Commercial Capstone Deployment, Code Defense & PPO Review

  • Commercial Capstone: Full-Scale Enterprise Procurement Requisition & Supplier Approval System with RAP, CDS, and Fiori UI
  • End-to-end integration testing, performance profiling via SQL Trace (ST05), and transport management
