Role Overview

Gain direct engineering experience building critical financial software infrastructure. As a FinTech systems engineering intern, you will build core services that handle real-money movement simulations. You will write robust payment gateway adapters, implement rock-solid idempotency controls to prevent double charges, build immutable double-entry accounting ledgers where debits strictly match credits, simulate UPI 2.0 collect and dynamic QR flows, and automate end-of-day multi-way reconciliation against bank settlement files.

Live Milestone
  • Building a merchant checkout API with Razorpay/Stripe simulator integrations
  • Designing UUIDv4-based idempotency middleware with Redis cache locks to prevent duplicate debits
  • Implementing HMAC-SHA256 signature verification for inbound payment webhooks
  • Modeling transaction finite state machines (Created, Pending, Authorized, Captured, Failed, Refunded)

2 Immutable Double-Entry Ledger Engine & Balance Derivation

Live Milestone
  • Architecting an append-only double-entry financial ledger schema in PostgreSQL
  • Enforcing debit-credit balance conservation invariants within atomic DB transactions
  • Deriving live account balances dynamically without mutative updates to account balance rows
  • Designing distributed lock patterns (pessimistic SELECT FOR UPDATE / Redlock) for high-concurrency wallet withdrawals

3 UPI 2.0 Dynamic QR Code & Virtual Payment Address (VPA) Microservice

Live Milestone
  • Generating NPCI-compliant dynamic UPI QR codes and deep links with custom transaction references
  • Simulating UPI Intent and Collect requests with real-time PSP callback polling
  • Asynchronous status inquiry workflows with exponential backoff for pending network transactions
  • Building high-volume webhook consumer workers with Kafka for processing instant UPI payment confirmations

4 Multi-Way Financial Reconciliation Engine & Automated Settlement

Live Milestone
  • Developing an automated end-of-day reconciliation engine matching internal orders against bank settlement dumps
  • Streaming parser for large MT940 / CSV bank settlement feeds detecting fee cuts and missing credits
  • Automated dispute flagging, exception queue routing, and partial refund handling
  • Generating merchant settlement payout batches (T+1 schedule) with automated ledger journal entries
