Role Overview

Step into the world of high-concurrency backend engineering. As an intern on our cloud systems engineering team, you will design, code, and deploy production-grade microservices in Go. You will implement lightning-fast gRPC and REST APIs, write concurrent pipelines using Goroutines and channels, optimize PostgreSQL database operations with compile-time type-safe SQL, manage distributed Redis caching, and deploy containerized services directly to Kubernetes clusters.

Live Milestone
  • Configuring production Go workspace, linter (golangci-lint), and module architecture
  • Developing a high-throughput URL shortening & analytics service processing 25,000+ requests/sec
  • Implementing sub-millisecond redirect caching with Redis and async click logging via Goroutines
  • Writing benchmark suites and load testing using k6 to prove sub-5ms p99 response times

2 Asynchronous Distributed Task Processing Pipeline

Live Milestone
  • Engineering a distributed background task queue and worker pool pattern using Go channels and sync.Pool
  • Reliable job scheduling, exponential backoff retries, and dead-letter queues with Redis Streams
  • Graceful process shutdown handling OS signals (SIGINT, SIGTERM) with zero dropped tasks
  • Integrating structured JSON logging with slog and contextual tracing

3 Real-Time Market Order Matching & Event Streaming Service

Live Milestone
  • Designing an in-memory limit order book matching engine using Go pointers and binary trees
  • Low-latency inter-service communication via bidirectional streaming gRPC and Protocol Buffers
  • Publishing completed trade events to Apache Kafka clusters for downstream ledger processing
  • ACID transaction management with PostgreSQL, optimistic concurrency control, and idempotency keys

4 Cloud-Native Containerization, Observability & Production Staging

Live Milestone
  • Crafting multi-stage Dockerfiles compiling statically linked Go binaries into lightweight ~12MB images
  • Deploying services to local and cloud Kubernetes clusters with ingress, HPA, and health probes
  • Instrumenting OpenTelemetry tracing, Prometheus metrics exporters, and Grafana dashboard alerts
  • Submitting pull requests, passing CI/CD automated test gates, and presenting live sprint demos
