Role Overview

Master modern API architecture and distributed microservices. In this internship program, you will architect contract-first APIs, build lightning-fast gRPC and GraphQL services, implement API Gateway security, and deploy observable microservices.

  • Contract-First API development using OpenAPI 3.1 / Swagger specifications
  • RESTful maturity model (Richardson Maturity Model) & resource modeling best practices
  • Git Flow, PR workflows & API versioning strategies (URI, Header, Query params)
  • Setting up local microservices mesh with Docker Compose

2 High-Performance Communication (gRPC & GraphQL)

Live Milestone
  • Defining Protocol Buffers (proto3) and generating type-safe client/server stubs
  • Building ultra-fast synchronous inter-service communication with gRPC
  • Building flexible client-facing GraphQL APIs with Apollo Server / GraphQL-Yoga
  • Resolving N+1 query problems in GraphQL with Dataloader batching

3 API Gateway & Security Infrastructure

  • Deploying and configuring API Gateways (Kong / Apache APISIX / KrakenD)
  • Centralized authentication with OAuth2, OpenID Connect (OIDC) & JWT validation
  • Rate limiting, IP whitelisting, CORS headers & request payload transformation
  • Securing APIs against OWASP API Security Top 10 vulnerabilities

4 Asynchronous Event-Driven Microservices

Live Milestone
  • Event-driven architecture with Apache Kafka and RabbitMQ
  • Implementing the Transactional Outbox Pattern to guarantee message delivery
  • Distributed Saga orchestration for multi-service business transactions
  • Idempotency keys and payload validation in event consumers

5 Observability, Distributed Tracing & Testing

Live Milestone
  • Distributed tracing across microservices using OpenTelemetry and Jaeger
  • Centralized metrics collection with Prometheus and structured JSON logging
  • Automated contract testing with Pact to prevent breaking API changes
  • Stress and load testing endpoints with k6 / Locust under heavy concurrency

6 Production Deployment & Capstone Delivery

Live Milestone
  • Containerizing microservices with multi-stage Docker builds and deploying to Kubernetes
  • Zero-downtime rolling updates and blue-green deployment strategies
  • Publishing interactive developer portals with automated API documentation
