Course Curriculum

1. Go Language Fundamentals & Memory Architecture

  • Go workspace, toolchain, and module management (go mod)
  • Type system: primitives, structs, slices, maps, and pointers
  • Memory allocation: Stack vs Heap, escape analysis, and garbage collection mechanics
  • Interfaces, duck typing, type assertions, and type switches
  • Idiomatic error handling without exceptions, custom error types, and panic/recover

2. Concurrency Primitives: Goroutines, Channels & Synchronization

  • The M:N scheduler: OS threads vs user-space Goroutines (2KB initial stack)
  • Unbuffered vs buffered channels, channel directionality, and close semantics
  • The select statement for multiplexing concurrent communication
  • Synchronization with sync.Mutex, sync.RWMutex, sync.WaitGroup, and sync.Pool
  • Atomic operations (sync/atomic), context package (timeouts & cancellation), and the Go Race Detector

3. Enterprise RESTful APIs & gRPC Microservices

  • Building blazing-fast HTTP APIs using Gin and Fiber web frameworks
  • Middleware architecture: JWT authentication, CORS, rate limiting, and structured logging (slog)
  • Protocol Buffers v3: Schema definition, code generation with protoc-gen-go
  • Unary and bidirectional streaming gRPC services for high-speed inter-service communication
  • API contract validation, request sanitization, and OpenAPI / Swagger documentation

4. High-Performance Persistence & Caching

  • Relational database integration with PostgreSQL using pgx and sqlc (compile-time type-safe SQL)
  • GORM vs raw SQL: Performance trade-offs, connection pooling, and database migrations (golang-migrate)
  • Distributed caching using Redis (go-redis): Cache-aside pattern, rate limiting, and pub/sub message brokers
  • Transaction isolation levels, distributed locks with Redlock, and optimistic locking

5. Cloud-Native Microservices & Container Orchestration

  • Designing microservices using Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Clean Architecture in Go
  • Multi-stage Docker builds creating ultra-compact ~15MB production container images (scratch/distroless)
  • Kubernetes deployment manifests: Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, and Liveness/Readiness probes
  • Asynchronous event messaging with Apache Kafka (segmentio/kafka-go) and RabbitMQ

6. Production Observability, Profiling & Capstone Deployment

  • Distributed tracing with OpenTelemetry and Jaeger integration across Go microservices
  • Prometheus metrics instrumentation: Counter, Gauge, and Histogram for request latencies
  • CPU and memory profiling using the built-in pprof tool to detect memory leaks and allocation hot-spots
  • Automated unit, integration, and benchmark testing with testing, testify, and mockgen
  • End-to-End Capstone Project: High-concurrency fintech transactional ledger deployed to cloud
