Course Curriculum

1. Cryptographic Foundations & Blockchain Internals

  • Cryptographic primitives: SHA-256, Keccak-256, Merkle Trees, and digital signatures (ECDSA, secp256k1)
  • Distributed ledger mechanics: Consensus algorithms (Proof of Work vs Proof of Stake), state transitions, and forks
  • Ethereum architecture: Accounts (EOA vs Smart Contracts), Nonces, Gas, Transactions, and the global world state trie
  • Setting up local Web3 developer environments: VS Code, Git, Foundry toolchain (Forge, Cast, Anvil), and RPC nodes

2. Solidity 0.8.x Deep Dive & Language Semantics

  • Solidity fundamentals: Data types, storage layouts, memory vs calldata, mappings, arrays, structs, and enums
  • Object-oriented Solidity: Inheritance, interfaces, abstract contracts, libraries, and custom function modifiers
  • Error handling & reverts: Require, Assert, Revert, and custom gas-efficient custom errors (`error InsufficientBalance()`)
  • Events and logging: Indexing topics, emitted bytecode logs, and off-chain event listening with Viem

3. EVM Internals, Bytecode & Advanced Gas Optimization

  • EVM memory model: 32-byte storage slots packing, pointer arithmetic, stack execution, and call frames
  • Advanced gas optimization: Caching array lengths, avoiding SSTORE writes, packing uint128 variables, and immutable storage
  • Yul inline assembly: Reading and writing directly to EVM storage and memory using assembly blocks
  • Contract deployment mechanics: `CREATE` vs `CREATE2` deterministic deployment and counterfactual smart contracts

4. Enterprise Toolchains: Foundry & Hardhat Testing

  • Foundry mastery: Blazingly fast unit testing in Solidity using Forge standard library (`forge test`, `console2.log`)
  • Foundry Cheatcodes: `vm.prank`, `vm.warp`, `vm.deal`, and simulating multi-user decentralized interactions
  • Fuzzing and Invariant Testing: Property-based testing to automatically discover breaking edge cases in smart contracts
  • Mainnet Forking: Testing decentralized contracts against live Ethereum mainnet liquidity states without spending real funds

5. Token Standards & Decentralized Finance (DeFi) Protocols

  • ERC-20 Fungible Tokens: Implementing safe transfers, approval front-running defenses, and EIP-712 permit signatures
  • ERC-721 and ERC-1155 NFTs: Dynamic metadata, on-chain SVG rendering, and gas-efficient batch minting (ERC-721A)
  • ERC-4626 Tokenized Vaults: Standardized yield-bearing vaults and decentralized asset management protocols
  • Automated Market Makers (AMM): Constant-Product formula (x*y=k), liquidity provision, swap routing, and fee accrual

6. Smart Contract Security, Exploits & Auditing

  • Reentrancy attacks: The DAO hack dissection, Checks-Effects-Interactions pattern, and OpenZeppelin ReentrancyGuard
  • Flash loan and Oracle manipulation attacks: Time-Weighted Average Price (TWAP) oracles and Chainlink Data Feeds
  • Access control vulnerabilities: `tx.origin` phishing, uninitialized owner state, and role-based access control (RBAC)
  • Automated security auditing: Static analysis with Slither, symbolic execution with Mythril, and manual code review checklists

7. Layer-2 Rollups, Cross-Chain Bridges & Zero-Knowledge Concepts

  • Layer-2 scaling: Optimistic Rollups (Arbitrum, Optimism) fraud proofs vs Zero-Knowledge Rollups (zkSync, Polygon zkEVM)
  • Cross-chain communication: Message passing bridges, lock-and-mint mechanisms, and Wormhole/Chainlink CCIP protocols
  • Upgradable smart contracts: Transparent vs Universal Upgradeable Proxy Standard (UUPS) and storage collision hazards
  • Introduction to Zero-Knowledge (ZK) Proofs: zk-SNARKs, privacy-preserving transactions, and off-chain computation verification

8. Full-Stack Web3 DApp Engineering & Capstone Defense

  • Frontend integration: Connecting Next.js/React applications to smart contracts using Viem, Wagmi, and RainbowKit
  • Handling blockchain asynchronous states: Pending transactions, gas estimations, replacement transactions, and error decoding
  • Decentralized storage: Pinning immutable NFT assets and protocol metadata on IPFS and Filecoin using Pinata
  • Capstone Project: Full-Scale Decentralized Lending & Borrowing Protocol with Automated Liquidations, Foundry Test Suite & Etherscan Verification
